Sidecars Round 2
Fast Friday’s Motorcycle Speedway
AUBURN, CALIFORNIA, June 13, 2025
Michael Kirby Story and Photos

What a night at Fast Friday's Motorcycle Speedway in week six as those wild speedster's that call themselves the Extreme Sidecars roared in the McCann Stadium on the Gold Country Fairgrounds in Auburn Ca. It was the second round of five rounds that the Extreme Sidecars will visit Fast Friday's tricky dirt oval this season, including the AMA National Extreme Sidecar Championship on August 30, and they did not disappoint. Tremendous Fast Fridays fan favorites; five Extreme Sidecar teams rode four heat races and a main event on their 1000cc three-wheeled super charged chariots. The teams in this round were Joe Jones and Johnny Glover, Robert Curry and Michael McGovern, Jason Fritze and Tiffiny Leppien, Wade Boyd and Eric Lindauer and Ace Kale and Brent Smith.

When the dust settled after the main event it was the team of Joe Jones and Johnny Glover that came out on top. In the four heats leading to the main event, Jones and Glover won three of the four heats dropping only one race to Curry and McGovern in heat four. In the main event it was Curry and McGovern who got the hole shot out of lane one on the start line and held the lead for three of the four laps. Jones and Glover, in second place, kept gaining on them and found an opening behind the leaders passing to take the lead. Jones and Glover took the checkered flag then did donuts in a cloud of dust on the track as the crowd cheered. Boyd and Lindauer took second, Curry and McGovern were third and Fritze and Leppien were fourth. Great racing by all the sidecar teams.

Billy Janniro had an excellent night picking up another win in the scratch program. Janniro was perfect again in the scratch program winning his heat race, transferring to and winning his semi-final heat and then on to the main event.

It was a tight battle in the main event between Janniro and Nicol as the two left the starting line side by side out of lane one and two. Janniro led out of turn one with Nicol on his tail and throw the pesky Charlie Trana in the mix and you have a fantastic race. It was a great race with the racers riding tightly and close. Janniro held on to his narrow lead taking the checkered flag. Nicol was second, Trana third and Daniel Faria was fourth.

It was Janniro's third scratch main event win of the season tying Broc Nicol for scratch main events wins this season. Janniro won the main in weeks two, three and six. Nicol won the main in weeks one, four and five. Janniro and Nicol are the only riders to win scratch main events so far this season at Fast Fridays.

Timmy Dion got his first main event win of the season in the handicap program, winning the handicap main event. Riding off the 20-yard line, Dion finished ahead of Trana who was second and Russell Green who finished third in the main. Dion led the entire race off the 20-yard-line, but with Daniel Faria close behind and Charlie Trana in the mix right there with the leaders. Trana made his move to second place taking Faria but was not able to catch Dion who won the race. Trana was second and Russell Green was third.

Christian Faria also got his first main event win of the season in the Support Class. Faria, part of the well know speedway racing Faria family, was first and second in his heat races, then on to the support main event. Catherine Moore, who has been riding really well this season, was right behind Faria giving chase but was unable to pass him and had to settle for second place, and Antonio Coffman was third.

Back in the USA from racing overseas in the 2025 SGP 3 FIM Speedway Grand Prix World Championship Brady Landon cruised to a win in the Youth 250cc Division 1 main event. Winning all his heat races barely letting off the gas in all his laps, Landon took the main event. Riley Rearick was second and Jameson Hutchinson was third.

Proving that the apple does indeed not fall far from the tree Gracie Janniro 15, Billy Janniro's daughter, got to the winner's podium for the first time this season in the Youth 250cc Division 2 main event. Janniro was undefeated in the Youth 250cc Division 2 program. Justin Gist was second and Gavin Evans-Seeley was third.

The Schroeder's, Zander 11 and Zeva 9, both went home with trophies and smiles on their faces in the Youth 150cc programs. Brother Zander won the Youth 150cc Division 1 main event followed by Hudson Jones in second and Brady Wills in third. Sister Zeva won the Youth 150cc Division 3 main event ahead of Ryder Faria who was second and William Bruce was third. Mason Howell topped the Youth 150cc Division 2 main event. Leeann Emerson was second and Gavin Evans-Seeley was third. Of course, the 20 or so pee-wee riders thrilled the crowd as they do each week. These pint-sized racers roared into the stadium to Fast Friday's fans wild applause.

Next week June 20, the season long team grudge match continues with round three of the Team Challenge Series. Team IFC and Team Law Tigers are tied after two rounds 18-18. Fast Friday's, “The place to be on Friday nights.”
